Delhi-univserity-admissionJune 4, New Delhi: Admissions at the prestigious Delhi University begins on Monday with the common pre-admission forms being made available for aspiring students both online and over the counter.

The university officials have cautioned students “not to rush” to sale counters for pre-admission forms and to make full use of the free information available on courses as well as online registration facilities.

The University offers 54,000 seats in over 60 colleges spread across the capital but the spectacularly high cut off rates in recent years tend to make the students nervous.

Centralized pre-admission forms, which have been re-introduced in the admission process after a gap of one year, are meant for students to fill in their choice of courses and colleges before cut-offs for the same are released.

Sale of forms will begin on June 4 and will go on till June 18. Forms will be available at 10 university centres and 12 post offices across the city.

The sale windows at post offices will remain open from 10 am till 4 pm. At colleges, sale will close at 1 pm, university officials said.

They will be also available online at www.du.ac.in. Those who apply online will be allotted a unique registration number, which has to be used in the admission process.

The first cut-offs for under-graduate courses will be released on June 26, with a three-day window for admissions. A total of five cut-offs are planned in the first phase, with the remaining to be released on June 29, July 3, July 6, July 9. Even as the university is encouraging students to go the online way, colleges said they expect more students to pick up the OMR forms and have prepared accordingly.
