Rupee gains 25 paise to 55.38 against dollarMumbai,(thehindubusinessline.com) June 6: The rupee opened higher at 55.38 to the US dollar on positive global markets. At 9.56 am, the currency was trading at 55.51 against the dollar.The domestic unit had ended flat at 55.63 on Tuesday making it unclear on the possible RBI intervention.

The dollar-rupee exchange rate touched a life-time low of 56.50 on May 31. Since then, the local currency has remained volatile on overseas dollar demand and RBI action.

Call rates, G-secs

The call rates opened at 8.2 per cent and were trading at 8.1 per cent. The rates had settled higher at 8.25 per cent on Tuesday.

The benchmark 8.79 per cent government securities maturing in 2021 were trading flat at Rs 102.85 at a yield of 8.34 per cent.
