Shootout at Wadala: Ekta Kapoor don’t want to compete with Aamir Khan

ekta-kapoor-sweetJuly 22, Mumbai: Producer Ekta Kapoor has decided to postpone the release date of her upcoming flick ‘Shootout At Wadala’, to avoid competition with Aamir Khan’s ‘Talaash’. Her film will be released on next year.

“‘Talaash’ is coming on Nov 30. How can we decide to take on the mammoth Aamir Khan? I don’t want to compete with him, absolutely not,” Ekta told reporters here.

‘Shootout At Wadala’ was earlier supposed to release Dec 7. But since Aamir’s ‘Talaash’ will either release in November-end or in the first week of December, ‘Shootout At Wadala’ will now hit the screens Jan 18, 2013.

Shootout at Wadala, is a sequel to the 2007 film Shootout at Lokhandwala, in which Sonu Sood plays the role of underworld don Dawood Ibrahim, John Abraham of gangster Manya Surve, while Anil Kapoor plays ACP Isaque Bagwan. The film also stars Kangna Ranaut, Tusshar Kapoor and Ronit Roy.

On the other hand, Talaash, directed by Reema Kagti, stars Aamir, Kareena Kapoor and Rani Mukherjee in the lead roles. It was earlier scheduled to release in January this year, which got postponed till June and then subsequently for November 30.

Eventhough, the makers of Shootout of Wadala postponed the release to January 18, 2013 the next hurdle is Abbas-Mustan’s Race 2, as the film releases on January 25. According to the filmy rumours, John Abraham and Anil Kapoor who feature in both the films are trying hard to convince the producers to reconsider their decisions.
