gangs-of-wasseypur 2Aug 8, Mumbai: After Gangs of Wasseypur part 1 has received critical and commercial acclaim, its second part will be released today. Director Anurag Kashyap has plans to re-release the first part along with the second. Confirming the same, Anurag stated that he decided to re-release the first part, as he felt the Gangs of Wasseypur 2 is releasing soon after the first film. Hence, he wanted to release both the films together, so that the audience could get a clear picture.

Centered around power, politics and rivalry among three families, the film explores the theme of revenge through the socio-political dynamic in Wasseypur, Jharkhand, also known for coal and scrap trade mafia. While Gangs of Wasseypur 1 spans the 1940s to the 1990s, Gangs Of Wasseypur 2 will take the story forward from the 1990s till 2009.

Gangs of Wasseypur 2 is said to be a fitting conclusion to the dramatic tale of vengeance. Written by Zeishan Quadri, who hails from Wasseypur, the film is co-produced by Anurag Kashyap and Sunil Bohra.

Powerful performers like Manoj Bajpayee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Richa Chadda and Huma Qureshi form the cast of the movie. More than 90 per cent of the film has been shot in Uttar Pradesh to bring the right mood and feel to the story.

The film will be running continuous in many theaters with a gap of 15 minutes between part one and part two. “The content of the film, just like Godfather, is such that Gangs can be seen repeatedly owing to its raunchy songs and quirky sense of humor.

Both films are a complete package of power packed performances, witty humor, entertaining soundtrack, gripping narrative and the script’s ability to surprise the audience at every move”, adds the unit-hand.

Part one was mainly Sardar Khan’s story played by Manoj Bajpai. Part two is going to be the revenge tale of Faizal Khan played by Nawazzudin.

The complete film was screened at the 65th Cannes International Film Festival, where it played to packed houses, and at the just-concluded Osian’s Cinefan film fest in the capital.
