Over 600 condoms used everyday at CWG Games village

Mar 6 (PTI) New Delhi, Athletes and officials at Commonwealth Games village seemed to have enjoyed steamy sessions as an average of nearly 640 condoms were used everyday during the 11-day-long sporting extravaganza, statistics from the Delhi Government suggest.

The Delhi State Aids Control Society has said that it has installed a condom vending machine at the Polyclinics of the Games village by Hindustan Latex Family Promotion Trust (HLFPT) and National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO) during the games to encourage safe-sex among athletes.

In reply to an RTI application, the Health Directorate of Delhi Government has said 7680 condoms were dispensed with a daily average of 640 condoms.
Besides the Games village, where nearly 6000 athletes and officials from 77 nations were staying, authorities had decided to install machines at major hotels, stadium, markets among others here to encourage safe sex during the games.
